Listen- Volume 1- Session 1

This introductory session provides an opportunity for members of the small group to become familiar with one another, if not already. The focus is on personal introductions with plenty of time for informal conversations, allowing people an opportunity to grow comfortable with the group.

Our God is the Almighty God who created the heavens and the earth. He created the sun, moon, and stars. He created plants, animals and people. You and I were created in His image and likeness. He lovingly designed us with a unique plan and a purpose for our lives. He is the ultimate Creator, and we are His crowning creation.

Listen - Volume 1 - Session 3

Adam and Eve have the closest of relationships with God. However, they will choose their selfish desires over trust in God. This choice will separate all of humanity from God the Creator. This separation will ultimately be bridged by Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection will pay the price for their sins and ours.

Banished from the Garden, humanity gives in to evil at every turn. This pattern demonstrates that apart from God and left to our own devices, we are completely lost. However, there was one man whose life stood out from the rest. Noah’s willingness to obey God thrust him into the forefront of God’s plan to destroy the wicked and save a remnant.

Listen - Volume 2 - Session 1

After the Flood, Noah and his family repopulated the earth. One of Noah’s descendants (through his son Shem) was Abraham. God promised to make Abraham the patriarch of many nations. Through him all the peoples of the earth would be blessed. God’s great blessings came to Abraham, as they often do to us, through the great sacrifice of obedience. Abraham had to leave his home, much of his family, and his culture. Later, he had to trust God for a son in his old age. The most challenging sacrifice that God required was by far the greatest, but Abraham passed the test with flying colors.

Listen - Volume 2 - Session 2

After God sent a ram to save Isaac from being sacrificed, Isaac grew to manhood and took a wife of his own. Isaac and Rebekah had twin sons, whom they named Jacob and Esau. This session is about the struggle between those two sons. Despite the customs of the day, God used the younger son to carry out His promise to make Abraham and his descendants into a great nation. This is a vivid reminder that each generation, and ultimately each person, must learn to trust God’s plan for themselves.

Listen - Volume 2 - Session 3

After his falling out with Esau, Jacob left home, married two wives, and fathered twelve sons. His son Joseph was his favorite. Joseph’s brothers became jealous of him, so they sold him into slavery. But they told their father, Jacob, that Joseph was killed by wild animals. Slave traders took Joseph to Egypt where he worked in the household of Potiphar. From Potiphar’s house, Joseph ended up in an Egyptian prison. Then through an unlikely turn of events, he ultimately became a ruler in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself. Through Joseph’s faithfulness, we see that God still worked everything for good in spite of the difficulties Joseph faced. We can trust God to do that in our lives too.

Listen - Volume 2 - Session 4

Following the death of Joseph and his brothers, a new Pharaoh came to power. Threatened by Israel’s population explosion over a few hundred years, Pharaoh made the Israelites slaves of Egypt. Through God’s provision, Moses, the son of Hebrew slaves, was raised in Pharaoh’s household as his grandson. However, because of Moses’s compassion for his fellow Hebrews (and his hot temper), he killed an Egyptian slave master, and then fled to the desert. Forty years later, God appeared to Moses, declaring that He had heard the cries of His people and was about to free them from their slavery. In an amazing demonstration of His power and compassion, God showed His people that He was aware of their suffering, just as He is aware of ours today.
